Shera comes across as a no-nonsense man who is focused on doing his primary job – guarding Salman Khan. Late on Tuesday night, Shera was booked for assault after an altercation with a man. Without commenting on the police case, we take a look at the life of Shera and his meteoric rise that made him Salman’s right hand man.
Salman Khan’s bodyguard Shera’s Family background
Born into a Sikh family in Andheri (Manish Nagar) in Mumbai, Shera’s real name is Gurmeet Singh. Yes he is a Sikh who decided to sacrifice his turban for his job. “It became very difficult to handle the crowds with my turban so I had to cut my long hair,” Shera once said in an interview to indianexpress.com. As a kid, Shera was less inclined academically and spent a major part of his early childhood chipping in at his father’s automobile workshop. And before Bollywood and Salman happened, pumping iron was Shera’s only passion, something that helped him win a few bodybuilding contests namely Mr. Mumbai and Mr. Maharashtra contest in which he stood second.

Salman Khan
It was Shera’s impressive physique that helped him get into security in the early 90s when Andre Timmins of Wizcraft asked him join his company to handle protection details of Bollywood bigwigs. He first met Salman in 1995 at a party held for Hollywood star, Keanu Reeves. It was just a chance meeting which didn’t materialize into anything at first. However, a freak incident in Salman’s life thereafter when crowd spiralled out of control at a show in Chandigarh forced his brother Sohail to look for a new and stronger bodyguard. This is when Shera came into the picture. “Bhai ke saath hamesha rahoge (Will you always stay with my brother)?” Sohail asked Shera to which the beefy man said, “Yes”.

A bond is formed:

While the rest of the world including girls address Salman as Bhai, for Shera Salman is Maalik. “Maalik means master and Salman Maalik is everything to me. I will lay down my life for him. He is my god,” Shera told me once. And he has proved his loyalty towards Salman by keeping him out of physical harm at all public places even if it means running in front of his car for miles. Recollecting an incident that endeared him to Salman for life, Shera said, “During one of my early assignments, I was at Indore with Maalik. We were travelling by car through this very small road where there were a lot of fans present and other people walking as well. So, it was difficult to drive. I got out of the car and ran in front of it for two kilometers clearing the crowd and allowing the car to pass smoothly. Since then, I have been like family for Maalik.”
Bodyguard film

Salman dedicated an entire film to Shera, a gesture that the bodyguard is eternally grateful about. “Who else has ever done such a thing for his bodyguard in the industry?” asked Shera. And the man repays his master by staying concerned only with his job. “Apne kaam se kaam rakho. I am like a horse decked up at a wedding to carry the groom. I am only concerned about my Maalik (Salman) and wherever he goes, I am there. I am his Yes Man. Till date, whatever Maalik has asked, I’ve done. That is why I am a part of Maalik’s family,” said Shera.
Salman Khan to launch Shera’s son
Shera’s son Tiger, a handsome young man, is waiting in the wings to be launched by Salman. The youngster is currently learning the ropes of Bollywood by assisting filmmakers and was also an assistant director on the sets of Sultan.
Salman and Shera – a reciprocal relation
Today Salman is guarded by a posse of bodyguards while shooting in India. But if Bhai travels abroad or for something extremely important in India, his security detail is handled by a lone ranger- Shera. At best, their relationship today can be described as a reciprocal one where one cannot do without the other in life.

Top : Honey / Pants : Lee Cooper / Shoes : Metro Shoes / Bag : Kiara / Sunglasses : Miami Blues / Jewellery : Pantaloons (India)
Today is a day when I planned to break free from my color love at least for once and try some neutral shades. But when you live in a country like India,  known for its bright and colorful culture, you feel encouraged to wear something vibrant all the time. Or at least I do! So I changed all my plans and wore a red top today 🙂
This basic red top is ultimate in comfort in a sunny day like today, and so are my pants from Lee Cooper. It is a perfect blend of style and comfort. I added this multi-string black necklace and a black bracelet to balance the color of my shoes and the bag 😉
We had to finish the shoot really fast as it was getting more and more humid progressively. We treated ourselves with some yummy ice creams before heading back home.
How do you like my ‘RED’ look today?
Sensuousness is a virtue that does not come easy to all!!! I had always been on a creative pursuit to capture this element in people (especially women) through my lenses and the results had always been pathetic. But thanks to Sarmistha and her lovely blog, things have really changed for good in the last two years. I got into street style fashion photography in 2013 and the journey has been an amazing learning experience for me.
I do all my shoots with Sarmistha and here is a recent one that celebrates the amalgamation of beauty and sensuality.

I would love to hear your thoughts on this post and I will also keep an eye for any suggestions that you may have for me…It’s so good to be back🙂

Casual and comfortable is what today’s look is all about.
This cotton halter dress from a local Indian brand makes a  perfect summer attire. And the slight chill in the air allowed me to wear my all time favorite denim jacket from Mango (which is otherwise impossible given the hot and humid summer climate that I live in). It was a fun afternoon! Me and my husband went on a long drive, had coffee in a roadside stall and did this shoot at the end of it all.
Oh, forgot to mention, I picked the wedges and the jewelry from Indian flea markets at a throw away price!! 😛 I will share with you some more stuff that I picked up from the flea markets at an unbelievably low price in my next post. So stay tuned…!
For now, take care and have a great day!!

The title of the post may seem a bit odd but it is actually a very realistic situation for most of us. We find ourselves in some kind of a fashion dilemma most often than not, no matter how good we think we are in styling ourselves. The moment I decided to do a photo shoot of this spaghetti strap criss back floral print dress sent to me by Dresslily, I went absolutely blank for a while. Not because I was clueless about styling it. As a matter of fact I quite clearly knew that this dress would look great teamed with a golden belt, golden bracelet and boots. But I had no idea how to justify wearing a floral maxi dress in the first place!

I am not a fashion slave. In fact, I challenge fashion rules pretty often and break them even more frequently. So, I am totally comfortable pulling off summer fashion in winter. What really bothered me is the inconsistency in my outfit posts on the blog lately. In my last few post you must have seen me covered head to toe in fall colors giving the illusion of a cool winter weather, and today’s photo shoot in a floral maxi dress has a strong summer vibe. Let me blame it on the confusing weather in my city, as we transition from summer to winter. Currently some days are excessively hot and humid while the others are rainy and a bit chilly. I dress to the weather and thus quickly switching from summer to winter and back to summer with every post.

Recently one of my readers shared that according to her fashion can be quite a challenge at times. While I agreed with her to a large extent, a voice inside me whispered,

Yes baby, bring it on! I am up for the challenge!

As evident from my last post and the photo shoot, I have decided to go with the flow and not let my fashion confusions hold me back from trying anything that may seem a bit off-season. I am celebrating this so-called new found freedom by flaunting an all-white look for the day. It’s can never be a bad idea to enjoy the last few days of sunshine in a Layered V Neck Bell Sleeve Dress, sandals and transparent eye wear.
A little white dress can create an effortlessly stylish vibe and that aspect of this dress made me instantly connect to it. Fancy eye-wear is my current obsession. In my monochrome post, I have stressed upon the importance of accessories and how

“Right accessories can give a serious boost to any outfit”.

Following my own quote, I tried out a pair of cool transparent aviators adding some much needed edge to my look of the day.

Having said it all, I truely hope you liked the post, the outfit and the photographs. I picked my little white dress from Rosegal and I would love for you to check out their trendy collection.
Have a wonderful Thursday!

My current location is Guwahati, a city surrounded by rocky hills, lush green fields and exotic wildlife.

It’d be really unwise of me not to take advantage of the beautiful landscape of this city in my photo shoots. While my earlier photo shoots were pretty much in and around Guwahati, today we took off a bit to the outskirts scouting for locations. I am wearing a floral printed wide leg pants from Rosegal along with a Lace-up Bodysuit fromZaful and a matching Blazer. With such an overdose of blue, I needed a seriously neutral coloured background for my outfit to stand out.

This spot was about 25 kms away from the city and with perfect earthy colors and enough sunlight, the photo shoot was quite a success. The best part of all was that the whole photo shoot plan soon became a family outing, with Pankaj’s parents accompanying us on the trip. I have already shared a couple of pictures on my Instagramaccount.
I always support local artisans and you might have noticed that I buy a lot of handicraft accessories and jewelries.

The straw bag that I am carrying is handcrafted by skilled artisans from Manipur and I am sure you can figure out from the photographs that it’s gorgeous!

The detailing and finishing of the bag is simply fabulous. It’s been the perfect partner to my blue look of the day!

We winded up the trip with some sight-seeing and a wholesome meal in a quaint local restaurent. It was indeed a day well-spent. An outing on a Monday seemed like a luxury for me a few months back, but not any more.
This is what I call pure bliss! 🙂
