“What do you think, should I have educated them that I was in fact wearing something called a strapless bra?” Shocked? Read on…

I am wearing a denim slip dress teamed with my all time favorite denim button down shirt for an all-denim look of the day! In my last post I did mention about my love for velvet slip dresses and I am seriously dying to do the layering with one of them. But alas, the weather is still not appropriate for much of layering. So, it just the slip dress for now!!

Ever since I have started doing my photo shoots in Guwahati, a city I live in currently, I have been going through weird experiences! First those experiences affected me but now I kind of get amused by all the reactions of the people I see around. Today a group of kids (yes kids, probably 9-12 years of age!) started passing lewd comments from far when we were doing our photo shoot in a small village on outskirts of the city. They said I wasn’t wearing a bra as they couldn’t see any bra! I couldn’t think of a way to even react.

What do you think, should I have educated them that I was in fact wearing something called a strapless bra?

Would it have been a wrong decision if I had called them and told them about all the different kinds of bras that exist in the world so next time they do not pass similar comments at another girl wearing a strappy dress? I have no clue what should I have done. So obviously we just ignored them and went ahead with our photo shoot.

All my fellow blogger friends suggested that I should be as thick-skinned as possible while going about doing my photo shoots in public and ignore any negative experience of this kind. I have taken their good advice and have started doing exactly that. But sometimes some experiences become worth sharing. With adults passing comments at me, I know what to think and how to react. But kids already getting into the zone of becoming potential eve-teasers and what not, I really doubt where we are heading as a society.

I am not a social reformer, never intended to be one. My blog is entirely about fashion and lifestyle and will always remain so.

But such tiny incidents of everyday life are sometimes disturbing when I try to think about the bigger picture and problems they might lead in the future.

Anyways, life moves on and so does my blog. From now onward I will be including a shopping guide with all my look posts so that my readers from across the world can shop whatever they like from the outfits I share. I always mention the brands from where I shop my clothes and accessories but most often my readers outside India find it difficult to get those products as they are mostly from Indian brands and flea markets. I hope this shopping list will help you shop for items that you love from my look posts. If you ever need any other info about the clothes and accessories I wear, please leave a comment or shoot me a mail. I always love helping people out! ðŸ™‚

“The eyes are the mirror of the soul and reflect everything that seems to be hidden; and like a mirror, they also reflect the person looking into them.”

― Paulo Coelho

I am a kind of person who always gets drawn towards intense powerful eyes. I love looking at photographs with close-ups of models in beautiful eye makeup. In my view, expressive eyes speak a thousand words!!! Such is the impact of a pair of strong eyes that it can leave people spell-bound. Indeed a piece of art in itself!!!
Needless to say, I pay a lot of attention to my own pair of eyes as well. I am into eye makeup and most often keep my lips nude. Though nothing special, but I love my eyes just the way they are. It’s my way of loving myself and not wanting to change anything by going under the knife. I do exercise to stay in shape and do use make-up to hide a few flaws here and there but more than that, there isn’t much that I have ever tried to change about my appearance.

The natural color of my eyes is deep brown so I picked Dare Hazel which is a few shades lighter than my natural color. There were the greens and the blues that would have looked beautiful and dramatic, but as a newbie contact lens user, I chose staying closer to my natural eye color.

Then came home this offer from Adore, an Italian Cosmetic and Beauty Contact Lenses company, to try out their range of colored contact lenses. Frankly,  I have never tried out contact lenses before, though you might have seen me in a wide variety of eye wears lately. I was skeptical but interested at the same time to see how my eyes would look in a different color.

Gosh! Why didn’t I think about using contact lenses earlier! I love how intense my eyes look.

It’s pretty much like trying out a new eye makeup, switching to a new lip or a hair color.

Nothing outrageous, no going under the knife, just plain and simple colored contact lenses! Although the shade isn’t much different from my natural color but at least I am confident to wear colored lenses more frequently and may be even try out some dramatic shades next time.

I had all the plans to do absolutely nothing over the weekends but my plans unfortunately got cancelled. We had a last minute client photo shoot to do and Diwali, the Indian festival of lights, literally darkened all my efforts to relax during the weekends! It wasn’t such a huge disappointment as I did enjoy lighting lamps and bursting quite a few crackers, but the cracker noises disturbed our 4 year old Cocker Spaniel, so we had to stop! In short is was a pretty weird weekend.
Anyways, the weekend is over, it’s Monday and I am once again starting to wear fall outfits, well, fall colors mostly.

I forever wanted a maxi skirt and as suprising as it may sound, I actually didn’t have a single one until now!

A huge thanks to Dresslily for sending me this high waist long skirt and the matching sling bag.

The outfit of the day is a part of my ongoing collaboration with a few fashion sites. I have picked up some really cool pieces that I absolutely love and putting together outfits that are inspiring as well as wearable. The series of collaboration started with my Monochrome look published a while back and I still have quite a few pieces lined up to be shot and posted. I don’t think I can get started on them any time soon as they all would be real fall outfits and I will have to wait around for it to get a lot cooler than the current temparature.

I have been waiting to wear fall fashion for quite a while now and have taken an attempt or two earlier to pretend it’s fall. But the weather refuses to co-operate with my idea of fashion. All I have been priviledged to do until now is wear some darker colors in lighter fabrics. But I’d still love to call this look of my fall outfits and yeah, it’s my favorite because of the brown maxi skirt.

So, have you started dressing up for the fall season already or are you still waiting for the fall to arrive in your place like me?

Please say you are still waiting for fall like me, I would love some company! 🙂
